Charlestown hoodlum, member of the McLaughlin mob and brother of Steve Hughes. Connie was also an associate of Alan “Suitcase” Fidler, and spent his final years hunting members of the Winter Hill Gang. One day in May 1966, he lingered a bit too long in a taproom on the Charlestown-Somerville line, and word leaked that he was inside. When he left, a Winter Hill hit crew was waiting. They let him drive north into Revere, and then moved into position.

 It was May 1966. His brother Steve had four months left to live.
