Donnie, worked in the rackets, and
eventually emerged as powers in the fractured South Boston underworld.
His brother Edward was found shot to death in 1968, an apparent suicide.
In 1972, Donnie had an enforcer working for him named Whitey Bulger.
Donnie was machine gunned by Whitey as he was leaving his home in
Framingham in May of 1972. Soon the Killeen family ginmill, the Transit
Café, was purchased by one of Whitey’s money launderers, Kevin O’Neil
