Earl Smith

Meet Earl Smith, DOB 5-15-14. He was a friend of Punchy McLaughlin's,
and he set up Punchy back in August 1965. They were to meet in the
parking garage at Beth Israel Hospital. (Punchy, having recently had his
hand shot off by the Winter Hill Gang, was spending a lot of time in
hospitals.) Punchy pulled his car into the garage and then saw two
rabbis walking toward him, only they weren't rabbis -- it was Stevie
Flemmi and Frank Salemme. They shot up Punchy's car (again) and wounded
him (ditto) but he survived. In October 1965 the "rabbis" finally took
Punchy off the board, much to Earl Smith's eternal relief. |
