Eddie
Phillips was a pint-sized aide to Whitey’s brother, Senate President
Billy Bulger. Here, in 1990, he accompanies his master to the Governor’s
Council judicial confirmation hearing for Bulger coatholder Paul
Mahoney. It was said that Billy liked having Eddie around because he was
one of the few people at the State House or anywhere else shorter than
Billy. In January 1995, when Whitey and Billy wanted to have a safe,
i.e., untraceable, telephone conversation, Billy traveled to Eddie’s
home in Quincy to take the call. Eddie Phillips’ son is now employed by
current Senate president Robert Travaglini, a devoted follower of Billy
Bulger. |
