Francis X.
(Gaga) Murray
Francis X. "Ga-ga" Murray, DOB 1929, a friend of the McLaughlin gang of
Charlestown. While incarcerated at the Dedham jail in December 1964, he
and another McLaughlin-affiliated inmate named Spike O'Toole received
telegrams the day before they were to be released, saying "You will
receive the same benefits as Harold." That was a reference to Harold
Hannon, a 54-year-old Everett thug whose trussed body had found in
Boston Harbor the previous August.
In September parties who turned out to be unknown fired on Ga-ga as he
drove along the Southeast Expressway in the South End. He survived, and
no further mentions are made of Ga-ga either in FBI or newspaper files.
