One of the legendarily corrupt cops in Boston history, he masterminded the Depositors Trust bank burglary of 1980 and was also involved in a number of other criminal enterprises. While in prison, he wrote his autobiography, “The Cops Are Robbers.” On the right in the photo is John Sears, then the MDC commissioner, and at various times a state rep, the High Sheriff of Suffolk County and a Boston city councilor. Sears was the Republican candidate for governor in 1982.
