Det.
Joe Lundbohm was the uncle of Julie Rakes, the co-owner of the South
Boston liquor store Whitey extorted from her husband, Stippo Rakes.
Julie wanted to tell Uncle Joe what had happened, but Stippo warned her
against it. She went ahead and told him anyway, and to help out his
niece Lundbohm went to, of all places, the Boston FBI office. He told
Zip Connolly, who told… well, you know who Zip went to. Stippo had to
beg for his life when Whitey came to visit. A few years later, Lundbohm
was convicted of aiding two gambling businesses and was sentenced to six
months in prison. Now 73, his Bureau of Prisons ID number was 17227-038.
