John (Maxie)
Shackelford
|
DOB
8-10-34, a lesser member of the McLaughlin mob from Charlestown. Read
the following two stories about him – the first one, from the Nov. 14,
1965 Sunday Advertiser, describes how he was wounded by what the Globe
called "a vicious hoodlum from Jamaica Plain" (presumably Frank Salemme)
in apparent retaliation for the murder of Winter Hill gang boss Buddy
McLean two weeks earlier. The other story describes how shoplifting
charges were dropped against him a year later, after his two
codefendants were slain in gangland hits. Current whereabouts unknown.
