John McIntyre

Perhaps the most dramatic parts of the de, pos, ition are the discussions of several of their murders. Many details have been known, but the lawyers’ questions – if not Stevie’s answers -- put some previously unknown gruesome details on the record. This week, you can read about the death of John McIntyre, a fringe member of McIntyre’s gang, who had become a police informant. He was lured to a house in Southie on November 30, 1984.

John McIntyre, murdered by Whitey 1984

Check out the lawyer’s interrogation of Flemmi about McIntyre’s final moments.

Flemmi's Testimony

John McIntyre was a 32-year-old fringe member of Charlestown hood Joe Murray’s marijuana-smuggling crew. He was also a deckhand on the ill-fated Valhalla gun-running mission to the IRA. At some point he became an informant for the Quincy police, who made the tragic error of sharing their informant’s name with the Boston office of the FBI. Soon McIntyre disappeared into a death pit, but the feds indicted him anyway months later in the gun-running scheme – although of course they declined to indict the mastermind, Whitey Bulger.
