Stuart, shown in a 1961 photo, examining some loot, a revolver and
handcuffs from a Back Bay bank robbery, knew gangsters, he said, because
they were his sources for information on the underworld. In 1970, he was
tried in Suffolk Superior Court on charges of being an accessory after
the fact of the murder of Billy Bennett in 1967. He was acquitted.
