DOB 7-31-30, Boston MA.
In September 1969 he was indicted in the Bennett murders along with
Stevie Flemmi and Frank Salemme. He handled the books first for Wimpy
Bennett, whose murder by Stevie Flemmi he witnessed in January 1967, and
then for Flemmi. He ran his operations out of a second-floor joint on
Tremont Street known as the Acropolis Club. With the heat building in
1969, FBI informants start mentioning how his sister had a history of
depression, and that Peter himself had taken to telling strangers that
health was more important than business success. That wasn’t a very good
way for Peter Poulos to remain healthy. As their indictment neared,
Flemmi and Salemme insisted that he join them on the lam, which he did
. (What choice did he have?) Salemme now says he split from the other
two in LA. Flemmi and Poulos left the City of Angels, headed for Las
Vegas, but only Stevie arrived. Poulos’ body was later found in the
desert. He had been shot twice in the head. Now there were no living
witnesses to Stevie’s murder of Wimpy Bennett.
