Vincent J. (Vinny
the Animal) Ferrara
Meet Vincent J. "Vinny the Animal"
Ferrara, age 55, currently incarcerated until 2009. Made Mafia soldier
and rival of Whitey Bulger. He was taken off the board for shaking down
Doc Sagansky (see below) and for attending the infamous LCN initiation
in Medford in 1989. At the end of the ceremony, he said, “Only the ghost
knows what really took place over here today, by God.” Only the ghost –
and the FBI, which had taped the entire proceedings. In the late 1980’s,
the feds grabbed Vinny the Animal’s address book, and guess whose name
and telephone number they found in it.

Vinny the Animal, just released from prison at age 56, he is vowing to
go straight. Shook down the late bookie, Harry “Doc Jasper” Sagansky,
for $250,000. Said after the Mafia initiation in Medford in 1989, “Only
the ghost knows what happened here today.” The ghost, and the FBI, which
had taped the entire ceremony. When addressed, police found his address
book, which contained the name and phone number of Sal DiMasi, who is
now the speaker of the Mass. House of Representatives. DiMasi says he
was the Animal’s divorce lawyer.
